Brazilian Oil & Gas Wells: Executive Overview

An interactive Power BI dashboard mapping the full landscape of drilled wells in Brazil, onshore and offshore, pre-salt and post-salt  built for fast, filterable, executive-level exploration of a national well inventory.

The Goal
Well-level data from a national oil & gas dataset is rich but hard to act on in raw form: thousands of records spread across basins, operators, depths and drilling periods. The goal was to turn that dataset into a single-screen executive view: something a decision-maker can open, filter to the slice they care about, and read in under a minute, while still allowing analysts to drill down basin by basin or operator by operator.

Dashboard breakdown
  • Filter panel

Slicers for State, Basin, Operator, Onshore/Offshore, Well Category, Status, Reached Pre-Salt and a Start Date range: all cross-filtering the rest of the report instantly.

  • KPI STRIP

Eight headline cards — total wells, active wells, offshore/onshore split, average measured depth, pre-salt wells, wells completed and average water depth — each a DAX measure that recalculates live as filters change.

  • Secondary metric row

Operators, basins and states covered, plus derived ratios (wells per basin, wells per operator), giving context on how concentrated or spread out the portfolio is.

  • Wells by LOCATION

A geospatial map of Brazil plotting well positions, letting the viewer spot regional concentration, Campos and Santos basins, for instance, at a glance.

  • wells by operator/basin

Horizontal bar charts ranking the top basins and operators by well count, so the biggest contributors surface immediately without scanning a table..

  • Wells by Well Type

Two donut breakdowns: offshore vs. onshore, and by well status/type (abandoned, in operation, other), for composition at a glance.

Business Value
Instead of exporting spreadsheets and building a new pivot table for every question, stakeholders can now answer most of them directly in the report: which basin has the most active wells, how the pre-salt share compares onshore vs. offshore, or how drilling activity has trended over the last decade — filtered to exactly the state or operator they're evaluating.
